AMERICA'S fastest texters are preparing to face off.
The winner gets $US50,000 ($A47,550).Eleven contestants from all over the US are headed to Times Square for the annual LG US National Texting Competition.
Competitors range from 16 to 24 years old, with last year's champion, Austin Weirschke, expected back to defend his title.
The competition tests three skills: speed, accuracy and dexterity.
There are three rounds: texting while blind-folded, texting with hands behind backs and the Text Blitz, where phrases are shown to contestants and they have to copy them as fast as they can before the next one.
The competition is sponsored by LG Electronics.
